R.V. Tips

You will learn a lot by visiting her site.

RV IDENTIFICATION TIP.  Photocopy all wallet contents, credit cards w/contact ph #'s, driver's license, Passport, Medical Insurance, Drs Name, pet vaccinations etc before you leave home. John and I also make a list of wallet contents.  Keep the info in a secure spot that both you and travel partner are aware of its location. If a wallet is stolen it is easier to access everything.  It may also be wise to copy and list the keys on your ring and what lock they are for - this way you'll know what to replace. Consider making duplicates to carry separately.

Stretch Gas/Fuel Mileage

We are all aware and somewhat concerned about the increased cost to RV because of the rising prices at the pump.  However many of the airline companies have found a way to save many hundreds on each flight - by slowing down and extending the trip time a few minutes. This is proof that if we each also SLOW DOWN several MPH, we too will travel further on less gas/fuel costs.  Your trip should not take much longer, but you will leave less of your money behind at the pumps.

Another positive way to increase your MPG is to LIGHTEN THE LOAD. Limit fresh water and waste you have on board, plus OFF-LOAD ALL THAT 'STUFF' you absolutely do not need. Heavy kitchen items or bulky tools or old papers or extra clothes or bedding are just a few suggestions that add pounds to your RV.  This practice may not make you rich but over time it should reduce the amount you spend at a gas/fuel stop.

Top 10 Tips for Safe Propane Use in Your RV

****Do not use portable propane camping equipment such as camp stoves, barbecues or radiant heaters in your RV. They are designed for use OUT OF DOORS.
****KNOW THE SIGNS of CO poisoning. If anyone shows signs of carbon monoxide poisoning (headaches, nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, confusion, impaired judgment, loss of manual dexterity) have everyone leave the RV and get medical attention.
****EVERYONE NEEDS AN ALARM. Install both a Propane & Carbon Monoxide alarm.
****BE CAREFUL WITH YOUR CYLINDER. Never use, store or transport propane cylinders or liquid fuels in the passenger space or living area of your RV!!! Don't transport or use containers that are damaged, show signs of corrosion, have been exposed to fire or appear to be leaking.
****TURN IT OFF WHEN REFUELING. When you stop to refuel your RV, be sure that all sources of ignition including pilot lights and engines are turned off or extinguished. Also, all occupants of the RV should leave the vehicle.
****BUY SMART. When buying a pre-owned RV, make sure it is safety inspected by a certified technician.
****For more information about RV propane safety and BC Safety Authority registered recreation vehicle shops, visit www.safetyauthority.ca or www.vehiclesalesauthority.com. A propane safety brochure is also available by contacting your local BC Safety Authority office, or call toll-free 1-866-566-7233 (SAFE) - Or your local propane dealer.

Candles will last a lot longer if placed in the freezer for a minimum of 3-hours prior to burning.
