Dryer Sheets
These came from a Google RV Alert mid August 09. Next to the can opener, DRYER SHEETS are one of the best inventions from mankind. For RVers they are as useful as duct tape and we all know that duct tape can do anything. A few more of these popular uses for dryer sheets are:
***The sheets are excellent for cleaning shower doors squeaky clean and spotless.
*** Prevent thread from tangling by running a threaded needle through sheet of Bounce before
beginning to sew.
*** Eliminate odors in wastebaskets. Place a sheet of Bounce at the bottom of the wastebasket.
*** Collect animal hair. Rubbing the area with a sheet of Bounce will magnetically attract loose hair.
*** To freshen the RV in the humid summer? Place a sheet in the AC vent for a clean outdoor smell.
*** Bounce's website lists more 'clever uses. Go to their web site' www.bouncesheets.com/en_US/cleveruses/index.jsp
*** Used Bounce dryer sheets are excellent for removing nail polish. It saves manicure time, and uses less nail polish remover.
Place fabric softener sheets in dresser drawers to ensure your clothes smell freshly washed for weeks to come. This trick also works with towels and linen.
*** VINEGAR has numerous uses -
** A 50-50 mix cleans kitchen appliances, counters and bathrooms too.
** Boil a weak mixture on the stove to freshen an RV.
** Add a bit to boiled eggs to help them peel easier.
** Hot vinegar will remove labels from glass or plastic.
** The list of uses seems endless.
*** Add vinegar to the RINSE WATER OF EACH LAUNDRY WASH load for softer more absorbent clothes. It removes all traces of soap, although several washes may be required. NOTE: We also use it in the main wash - our clothes seem to be cleaner
*** To add a FRESH SCENT to RV sink drains - pour 1-cup of baking soda down the drain; follow with a cup of white vinegar. After it to foams and spits, the drains will be sweet smelling for several weeks.
*** VINEGAR / WATER SOLUTION can replace Windex to clean all mirrors and glass.
*** KEEP CUT FLOWERS FRESH longer by placing them in a vase of ¼ cup vinegar/8 cups of water. If this doesn't revive them, try cutting them under water/vinegar solution.
Use vertical strokes when washing windows outside and horizontal for inside windows. This way you can tell which side has the streaks. Straight vinegar will get outside windows really clean. Don't wash windows on a sunny day. They will dry too quickly and will probably streak.
WASH BERRIES WITH VINEGAR. When you get your berries home, prepare a mixture of one part vinegar (white or apple cider probably work best) and ten parts water. Dump the berries into the mixture and swirl around. Drain, rinse if you want (though the mixture is so diluted you can't taste the vinegar,) and pop in the fridge. The vinegar kills any mold spores and other bacteria that might be on the surface of the fruit, and voila! Raspberries will last a week or more, and strawberries go almost two weeks without getting moldy and soft. So go forth and stock up on those pricey little gems, knowing they'll stay fresh as long as it takes you to eat them Submitted by George and Donna
